Orquestra Was: Forever's a Long, Long Time

Uberproducer and Grammy award winner Don Was' new enhanced CD, Forever, captures the Detroit native's eclectic and often humorous musical sensibility. The disc of Hank Williams tunes interpreted by the jazzy Orquestra Was: Forever's a Long, Long Time features a 15-minute noir-lite film, directed by Was (under the aegis of Francis Ford Coppola), starring vocalist Sweet Pea Atkinson and actor-singer Kris Kristofferson. Though the film stylishly subverts the loser-on-the-road-to-redemption cliches of the genre, watching it on a computer monitor is like screening a film-school thesis on an Etch-A-Sketch. But at least the music is good. B-
