with Paris Hilton), 38, obtained a marriage license in Las Vegas on
Sept. 29. At press time, the couple had yet to hold a wedding ceremony.
Both have been married twice before.
EXPECTING
Actress Melissa Joan Hart (Sabrina, the Teenage Witch), 31, and her
husband, musician Marc Wilkerson, 30, will welcome their second child
next year.... Actress Teri Polo (Meet the Fockers), 35, and her
boyfriend, drummer Jamie Wollam, will greet a daughter this winter. They
each have a child from a previous relationship.
SPLIT
Dylan McDermott (Big Shots), 45, has separated from his wife of nearly 12 years, actress Shiva Rose, 38. The couple have two daughters.
NOMINATED
On Sept. 28, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced their 2007
nominees: Madonna, John Mellencamp, Beastie Boys, Donna Summer, Chic,
Afrika Bambaataa, Leonard Cohen, The Dave Clark Five, and The Ventures.
The five inductees will be announced on March 10.
ROBBED
On Sept. 26, five armed thieves broke into the Buenos Aires home of
filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola (The Godfather), 68, and stole film equipment and a computer that held the screenplay for the director's
next film, the Argentine family saga Tetro. One of Coppola's employees
suffered a minor stab wound during the robbery, but the director was not
at home when the break-in occurred. Coppola's publicist says the theft
''will not affect the movie's February start date.''
ACCIDENT
Singer Keith Urban, 39, was involved in a motorcycle accident on Oct. 1
in Sydney, Australia. The country crooner (and husband of Nicole Kidman)
says he was on his way to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting when he
realized he was being pursued by a photographer. ''I sped up, and in an
effort to elude an oncoming car which was making an illegal U-turn, saw
no choice but to drop my bike,'' Urban explained in a statement.
COURTS
After pleading guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge, singer Uncle
Kracker (né Matthew Shafer), 33, was sentenced on Sept. 28 to a year's
probation and fined $1,500. The charge stemmed from an August incident
at a Raleigh, N.C., nightclub in which Shafer had an altercation with a
26-year-old woman.... On Sept. 26, an L.A. judge declared a mistrial in
the case of music producer Phil Spector, 67, who was accused of the 2003
murder of 40-year-old actress Lana Clarkson in L.A. (He pleaded not
guilty.) After 12 days of deliberation, the jury announced that it was
deadlocked in favor of conviction. Prosecutors said they are seeking a
new trial; a hearing was set for Oct. 3.... Actress Vivica A. Fox (Kill Bill), 43, pleaded not guilty to two misdemeanor counts of DUI in a Van
Nuys, Calif., courthouse on Sept. 27. Fox was arrested on March 20 after
police stopped her for allegedly speeding.... On Sept. 28, country
singer Sara Evans, 36, agreed to pay her ex-husband, GOP politico Craig
Schelske, 44, $600,000 in alimony. Evans filed for divorce from
Schelske, to whom she'd been married for 14 years, in October 2006.

Actor Michael Evans, 87, who played Col. Douglas Austin for 16 years on
The Young and the Restless, of undisclosed causes, Sept. 4, in L.A....
Television producer Martin Manulis, 92, who helped launch CBS'
critically acclaimed series Playhouse 90 in 1956, of natural causes,
Sept. 28, in L.A.... Television writer Sidney Ellis, 89, who co-scripted
shows such as The Fugitive and The A-Team, of prostate cancer, Sept. 6, in Beverly Hills.... Ray Timothy, 75, who worked his way up at NBC from tour guide to executive vice president of the network, of cancer, Sept.
27, in Seattle.... David Hans Schmidt, 47, who agreed to plead guilty in
August to plotting to extort more than $1 million from Tom Cruise for
the actor's stolen wedding photos, of an apparent suicide, Sept. 28, in

LEGACY: Lois Maxwell (1927-2007)
Best known for playing the flirty Miss Moneypenny in 14 James Bond films
from 1962 to 1985, Maxwell, 80, died of lung
and vascular disease on Sept. 29 in Fremantle, Australia. The Canadian-born actress — who won a Golden Globe for 1947's That Hagen Girl,
costarring Shirley Temple — also appeared on TV shows like The Saint during a career that spanned six decades. — Adam Markovitz
Lady Sings the Blues
The good news: Britney Spears' single ''Gimme More'' debuted at No. 1 on
Billboard's Hot Digital Songs chart this week. The bad news: On Oct. 1,
an L.A. judge awarded full custody of Spears' sons, Sean Preston, 2, and
Jayden James, 1, to ex-husband Kevin Federline, ''until further notice of
the court.'' According to reports, the ruling came after Spears missed a
court-mandated drug test and drove without a valid California license.
(Spears has since applied for and obtained a license.) An additional
custody hearing was set for Oct. 3. Reps for Spears did not return calls

It's Miley Cyrus' World — We Just Pay for It
If you thought the Bruce Springsteen or Van Halen tour was the toughest
ticket in town, there's a glaring paucity of 10-year-olds in your social
circle. This year's must-have tween accessory is a ticket to Miley
Cyrus' upcoming 51-city Hannah Montana tour — an instant, whine-inducing sellout. (Tickets for the Atlanta show, for example, were snapped up in a mere four minutes.) Good floor seats are reselling for upwards of $700
on eBay, and even nosebleeds might set you back $150 apiece. (Betcha
can't buy just one, since the target demo demands chaperoning.) Pollstar publisher Gary Bongiovanni compares it to the hysteria of the
Backstreet/'N Sync days, with one crucial difference: ''To tell your
little girl no, that you can't get tickets, is a harder sell when they
have Internet access and can go over to StubHub.com and see plenty for
sale'' — albeit for hundreds of dollars from eager scalpers. Unfortunately
for frantic fans, one-nighters are the norm on the tour; it has to end
in January, given that the 14-year-old Cyrus is scheduled to film a big-screen Hannah Montana movie in February. ''If they tried to
really fulfill the demand,'' says Bongiovanni, ''it would take them years
