This mishmash musical featuring recycled Gershwin tunes follows photographer Dick Avery (Astaire) and fashion editor Maggie Prescott (Kay Thompson, author of the Eloise books) as they whisk dowdy Jo Stockton (Hepburn) to Paris to be America’s next top model. There, Jo does a slinky beatnik dance (Gap ad alert!), dons Givenchy, and falls for Avery. But Funny Face belongs to Thompson, who dances up a storm and makes the whole affair “s’wonderful.” EXTRAS A puff piece on Paramount, but nothing on Thompson? Mon dieu! B
