Say you wanted to dream up a fantasy movie for kids. Make your hero a reluctant 14-year-old. Imbue him with magic powers, and then tell him to avert the end of the world by helping the forces of ''Light'' battle the forces of ''Dark.'' As for the bad guy, throw Christopher Eccleston on a horse. Add in some ravens, and you've got yourself The Seeker, a movie that should've been made shortly after its source material Susan Cooper's Newbery winner debuted in 1973. As is, it feels entirely too generic to work today. C-
