Lead Performance: Swoosie Kurtz
Is there any actress more comically proficient than Swoosie Kurtz? Most likely not, and while you can quibble with Paula Vogel's funny but two-dimensional play, you gotta hand it to her, and clever director Joe Mantello, for displaying Kurtz to such fine effect. Spanning a half century, Mineola stars Kurtz as two warring twins — one who grows up to be a militant lesbian, the other a Bush Republican — who make plays for each other's sons and lovers. Which means two Swoosies for the price of one, and no one can quibble with that. B+
