Dear Owen,
You really are narrow-minded. You want everything to be
Oscar-worthy. But sometimes people just want to be entertained by vampires. Or beer-drinking frat guys. Or any other genre you don't deem suitable for your highly critical standards. I know it's your job, but hating a horror movie like 30 Days of Night for being a horror movie is lame.
Nick Caruso
Dear Nick,
I truly do enjoy a good blood-gushing/face-ripping vamp
attack. That is, for about 10 minutes. But a horror movie isn't just
horror it also aspires to be, you know, a movie. If you thought 30 Days of Night was awesome, fine, but please realize we critics aren't being snobs by panning it. We're just holding out for a bloodsucker flick with a story as scary as its effects.
