Nimble and moving. Steve Carell, as a widowed father of three daughters who falls for his brother's girlfriend (Juliette Binoche), holds on to his inner wild man in the shrewdest way possible. He pines, he simmers, he curses the gods and he does it all under the radar. It's a pleasure to see a family house-party movie ruled by affection rather than backbiting.
