Bella

She (Tammy Blanchard) is a single, pregnant New York waitress in crisis. He (Eduardo Verástegui) is a Mexican chef — with a Rasputin-wild beard that's surely a health-code violation — in turmoil over a tragedy from the past. When she's fired for tardiness, he follows her out the door with the kind of instinctive compassion that, in stories like this defiantly unsubtle, structurally clunky specimen, causes women who are considering abortion to think again, and self-selecting audiences to enjoy a light, luxurious weep.
