EP We L-O-V-E: Bear Hands' 'Golden'

Why ''Golden'' rocks -- The debut by Bear Hands is an indie record that stands out

Why ''Golden'' rocks

In an indie wilderness populated with like-named acts (Panda Bear, Grizzly Bear, Minus the Bear), we'll gladly share our pic-a-nic basket with Bear Hands, an unsigned foursome from Brooklyn. Golden — their inaugural, self-released EP — finds the band melding together indie rock and post-punk on songs like ''Long Lean Queen,'' a punchy anthem propelled by atonal vocals and persistent percussion. Judging from these four tracks, this young Bear is already exhibiting survival skills.
