Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007)

EW's GRADE
B+

Details Release Date: Dec 04, 2007; Lead Performance: Various Artists; Genre: Soundtracks

The new comedy from the stable of Judd Apatow (Knocked Up) is a Walk the Line parody about fake country legend Dewey Cox. Star John C. Reilly acquits himself admirably on the Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story soundtrack's set of rock pastiches, some co-written by Apatow himself. They range from the Elvis Presley-ish ''(Mama) You Got to Love Your Negro Man'' to the small-person protest song ''Let Me Hold You (Little Man).'' And in no minor achievement, the double-entendre-suffused ''Let's Duet'' (''I'm gonna beat off...all my demons!'') is both filthy and touching. B+
