Radio jock Don Imus returned to the airwaves Monday morning (Dec. 3), his first broadcast since he was fired for making a racially and sexually charged comment about the Rutgers' mostly black women's basketball team some eight months ago. Imus went on his new radio home, WABC-AM, at 6 a.m. Monday morning and said he would never make that kind of comment again. ''I will never say anything in my lifetime that will make any of these young women at Rutgers regret or feel foolish that they accepted my apology and forgave me,'' Imus said on the air. ''And no one else will say anything on my program that will make anyone think I did not deserve a second chance.'' (New York Times)
