Activision, Vivendi Games Merge

Activision and Vivendi Games have merged to form the world's largest videogame publisher. The combined company will be called Activision Blizzard, a reference to Vivendi's World of Warcraft-publishing subsidiary Blizzard. Activision is behind the blockbuster Guitar Hero franchise. The new entity is valued at $18.9 billion and is projected to have approximately $3.8 billion of revenue this year, which would push it slightly ahead of current No. 1 Electronic Arts. The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2008. (Variety)
