Yep, though previous seasons have seen models walk runways submerged in water, for Pete's sake, a man on stilts got the best of Chantal after she accidentally tripped him with her train. And in a moment that managed to be tragic, hilarious, and kinda gosh-darn cute all at the same time, Chantal lost character for a second over her concern for the fallen before ultimately deciding to stomp on, Edward Scissorhands nails and all. Chantal’s major trip-up aside, Saleisha’s fierce, if a little over-the-top runway walk proved that she was the obvious choice. Plus, you've got to hand it to the girl for allowing Top Model's stylists to yet again stick that heinous cinnamon-bun hairpiece on her head (though anything is better than the crescent roll Chantal sported in last week's photo shoot).
Before I get too hungry with all this talk of baked goods, I must discuss the final panel. If any of you were at all doubtful that Saleisha would be handed the crown (yes, I'm talking to you, Chantal), our judges' recap of the runway show all but guaranteed her win. But I do have to say I found it odd that Tyra & Co. discussed only three previous photo shoots from the season, when we're usually treated to reflections on nearly the entire cycle. Your guess is as good as mine whether the panel made that choice to save time or because Chantal and Saleisha simply didn't deliver enough strong photos throughout the season to warrant higlighting. So instead we were forced to sit through an entirely uninspiring and predictable final elimination that somehow concluded that Saleisha was the best of this year's pack (um one more time Lisa and Heather?). And to think that I usually get teary eyed during these Top Model finales.
What do you think, TV Watchers? Were you as underwhelmed as I was with this cycle's finale? Do you think Jenah should have been given another chance? Do you think a cover girl needs to shine from the inside? Are you looking forward to Saleisha's ''My Life as a Cover Girl'' segments? And in the absence of Top Model, will you lower your standards even further to sit through an hour of Crowned?
