This made-for-cable movie about a black cop (Vance) trying to protect the young son of a murdered Klan leader begins with palpable racial tension and gritty, believable characters. But the story gives way to predictable plot twists and cartoonish white supremacist villains. The scenes between Vance and the boy (Jeremy Lelliott), though, are effective, full of coiled, genuine rage. B-
