Release Date: Nov 06, 2007; Genre: Documentary; Distributors: Lions Gate Films and The Weinstein Company
Director Michael Moore's latest documentary is a funny, devastating screed against the U.S. healthcare system. Though it can lapse into grandstanding extolling the virtues of, say, Cuba probably won't silence Moore's conservative critics Sicko keeps its focus exactly where it should: on story after infuriating story of middle-class Americans who've been jilted by the medical-insurance industry. EXTRAS Over 80 minutes of cut scenes include a hilarious trip to Norway; Moore thought the portrait of that progressive country and its endless social services was ''so scary I couldn't put it in this film.''
