Networks Trim Globes Coverage

E! has pulled the plug on all Golden Globes programming Sunday and TV Guide Network canceled its Lisa Rinna, Joey Fatone red carpet coverage

(FROM VARIETY) - E! and TV Guide Network have canceled their Golden Globes red carpet coverage on Sunday in response to the show's reducing its usual star-studded, three-hour gala to an hourlong newscast announcing winners. E! canceled all of its coverage and instead will air a Keeping Up With the Kardashians marathon Sunday night and offer Globes update bulletins as winners are announced. ''We're taking the attitude that if the stars are staying home, we're staying home,'' E! president Ted Harbert told Variety. ''These shows are about stars.''

TV Guide Network will still run a two-hour ''Countdown to the Globes'' preview special at 7 p.m., featuring awards pundits and pre-taped packages about the nominees, and an hourlong ''Globes Wrap-Up'' at 10 p.m., after the NBC newscast ends. Lisa Rinna and Joey Fatone, who usually cover the red carpet for the network, will not be part of the coverage.

Prior to announcing the Globes winners in a live newscast at 9 p.m., NBC will air a two-hour Globes Dateline special, hosted by Matt Lauer, from 7-9 p.m. The network is not doing any post-show coverage and will follow the newscast with a repeat of American Gladiators at 10 p.m. (Variety)
