Heartbroken after one of his students rejects him, vain writing instructor Aaron McCloud visits his eccentric aunt in remote Ireland. There, he reckons with a stubborn pig who not only follows him to his aunt's house but also digs up the skeleton of a murdered man in her garden. So begins Aaron's struggle to determine the killer from a list of three suspects, his aunt included. Though the book ends with a somewhat unsatisfying resolution, most of Joseph Caldwell's novel, The Pig Did It, is delightfully uproarious — particularly Aaron's countless melodramatic and unsuccessful attempts to mourn love lost without getting distracted by the murder.
