Heartbroken after one of his students rejects him, vain writing instructor Aaron McCloud visits his eccentric aunt in remote Ireland. There, he reckons with a stubborn pig who not only follows him to his aunt's house but also digs up the skeleton of a murdered man in her garden. So begins Aaron's struggle to determine the killer from a list of three suspects, his aunt included. Though the book ends with a somewhat unsatisfying resolution, most of Joseph Caldwell's novel, The Pig Did It, is delightfully uproarious particularly Aaron's countless melodramatic and unsuccessful attempts to mourn love lost without getting distracted by the murder.
