'MAD'NESS
Mad About You is one show that actually has some real moral value. I'm so sick of seeing so-called comedies about couples who have moved in together but never got married. Mad is a refreshing change and will last because it reflects what really goes on in a relationship.

JULIA LEGACY
I was disappointed that EW didn't give Raul Julia's death more space. Okay, so Burt Lancaster got two pages, and he certainly
deserved it, but to give Julia only a quarter of a page and to tuck him back with the video releases seems somewhat insulting. Julia's career wasn't an afterthought, and I don't think he should have been one to you.

MONSTER MASTER
What a delight to read your review of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. Although there's no disputing the power of Boris Karloff's incredible performance in the 1931 film, the buildup he received from
Colin Clive's driven, obsessed creator has been overlooked far too long. I have always thought the first part of the film was Clive's and Clive's alone.

'SNOW' JOB
I'd had my deluxe CAV laserdisc Snow White for nearly a week before I read Steve Daly's right-on review. I was bowled over by his mentioning using the music-only alternate audio track as a great way to view Snow White as a silent feature. His insight was exactly my impression.

FASHIONABLY LATE
Thanks for your Nov. 4 tribute to our chart on tribute albums (which had been on newsstands since Oct. 25). However, I must take issue with the claim that Cracker's ''Rainy Days and Mondays'' is whiny. It is post-whiny.

'GUMP' RICHENS
I got a kick out of the various imitations of the ''Gump Happens'' ad copy for Forrest Gump for one simple reason: I wrote the line. I'm proudest of the fact that it was only two words long, one of which was half of the movie's title. This means I'm the highest-paid copywriter in Hollywood: I get paid by the letter.
