All About
Elizabeth: The Golden Age--
While Elizabeth: The Golden Age earned Blanchett a spot in the record books as the first actress with two Oscar noms for the same character, Shekhar Kapur's Elizabeth sequel lacks the tension and character of his 1998 original. The feminist monarch is shown as petty and flimsy; sinister Walsingham (Rush) is reduced to a nagging lackey. EXTRAS Though Owen (the dashing Walter Raleigh) praises Kapur's ''epic perspectives'' in a featurette, the director's obtrusive camera work Kapur calls it ''Shekharistic'' in his commentary fails to serve us or the queen.
