Now living in Vermont — far from the Hollywood picket lines where his old writing buddies are protesting — the creator of Family Ties, Gary David Goldberg, takes an amusing look back at a charmed career spent with wife Diana, actor Michael J. Fox, and his faithful Labrador, Ubu in his memoir Sit, Ubu, Sit. At one point, Goldberg attempts to atone for abandoning ABC's Spin City after a disagreement with Fox over the sitcom's creative direction: ''Maybe I did feel some resentment at having to share power with someone who had, at one time, been a kind of protégé.'' But after treating us to Ties and the underappreciated Brooklyn Bridge, Goldberg has nothing to be sorry about. B+
