(FROM VARIETY) – Pushing Daisies star Anna Friel has been tapped as the female lead in Universal's movie adaptation of the campy 1970s fantasy adventure series Land of the Lost. The actress will play opposite Will Ferrell, a disgraced paleontologist who, with his assistant and tour guide, find themselves in a world inhabited by dinosaurs, monkey-people, and the evil Sleestaks. Brad Silberling (Lemony Snicket) is directing. Production is set to start next month. Friel, who was nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance in Pushing Daisies, will next appear in the third and final installment of the Goal! movie franchise. (Hollywood Reporter)
