4. EPISODE: ''Everybody Hates Hugo''
ORIGINAL AIR DATE: Oct. 12, 2005

PLOT SUMMARY: While Jack and Sayid investigate the Hatch's cement-slathered bowels (ominously, it reminds Sayid of Chernobyl) and Kate enjoys its sulfur-smelly shower (hello!), Hurley struggles with the weighty burden of secretly taking stock of the Swan's food supply and formulating a meal plan for the castaways. Hurley anxiously recalls how he tried to hide his $156 million Lotto windfall from best bud Johnny lest their friendship suffer. But when Johnny does find out, he's hurt that Hurley never trusted him. Determined to avoid similar relational consequences, Hurley gives away the Dharma food equally and immediately. Claire gets peanut butter. Meanwhile, Jin, Michael, and Sawyer are taken captive by the terror-stricken survivors of Oceanic 815's tail section — including Ana-Lucia Cortez (Michelle Rodriguez).

MYTHOLOGY ALERT: A new Dharma station, the Arrow, a dilapidated storage facility.

CRITIQUE: A poignant Hurley tale — and a quirky Communist parable? The dream sequence with Jin in the Mr. Cluck's costume = genius.

GRADE: B
