Do You Like Rock Music? (2008)

Who dares title their album so audaciously? This U.K. quartet's collective tongue may be firmly in its cheek, but Do You Like Rock Music? is undeniably ambitious. There are no minor themes or small sounds here — Joy Division's dark-night musings and the ardent anthems of Arcade Fire glimmer at the edges of each dense, soaring track. Even as the band never quite achieves the transcendent moments of its influences (nor actually answers the sweeping question of the title), standouts like ''No Lucifer'' and ''Waving Flags'' touch real greatness. B+
