Super Bowl mania infected everything in showbiz this week: Alicia Keys scored with a stream of hits before the big game, Heroes' lustrous Ali Larter tackled the awards-show circuit, and George Clooney punted with AMC's Shootout for a little pre-Oscar press. As for Jack Black...why, we found him hitting the field with Mos Def.
Tale of the Tape
Jack Black and Mos Def reenact Rush Hour 2 in Be Kind Rewind, which premiered at Sundance last month and opens on Feb. 22. The guys star as video-store clerks who re-create films after their stock is erased. Serves them right for not dealing in DVD.
Web Obsession of the Week
Living in a world where everything moves backward is a scary prospect.
But EVOL, Chris Vincze's artful imagination of the situation in which two lovebirds are the only people who can move themselves forward is,
more than anything, just sweet. (youtube.com/watch?v=hsF0Eqs8yQ8)
Eye-yi-yi
Someone (or something) is watching Jessica Alba at the L.A. premiere of
her new horror flick, The Eye and, quite frankly, it's making us a
little uncomfortable.
Bowling Us Over
On Feb. 3, Alicia Keys warmed up the Super Bowl crowd in Glendale,
Ariz., with a medley that included ''Fallin','' ''If I Ain't Got You,'' and
her most recent hit, ''No One.''
Award Seasoned
With Michael Clayton up for seven nods, George Clooney taped a special
Oscar episode of AMC's Shootout with Laura Linney, Hal Holbrook, and
Marion Cotillard on Feb. 4 in Beverly Hills.
Back in Action?
As an end to the writers' strike in Hollywood seemed closer, Ali Larter
presented at the Producers Guild Awards where her NBC series, Heroes, was nominated. Click here for more on a possible deal.
