(FROM VARIETY) – Uma Thurman will star in the upcoming movie adaptation of children's novel series Eloise in Paris. The actress is set to play Nanny, the caretaker of the title character in the stories, which were written by Kay Thompson and illustrated by Hillary Knight. Charles Shyer (Alfie, Father of the Bride) is directing for Handmade Films. He also wrote the script with his daughter Hallie Meyers-Shyer and Larry Spencer. The search is now underway for a young actress to play Eloise. Production on the movie begins in June. Handmade hopes the project will launch a franchise based on the Eloise books, and a follow-up, Eloise Goes to Hollywood, is already in the works. Thurman just finished work on The Accidental Husband.
