(FROM VARIETY) – Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine) is replacing Elle Fanning and Sofia Vassileiva (Medium) is in talks to replace Dakota Fanning in the New Line drama My Sister's Keeper, which is being directed by Nick Cassavetes (Alpha Dog). The Fannings reportedly left the project when Dakota refused to shave her head for the role. Breslin will play a young girl who sues her parents for emancipation because they bred her as a genetic match that could prolong the life of her ailing older sister (Vassilieva). Cameron Diaz will play the girls' mother, and Alec Baldwin has been cast as the attorney representing Breslin's character. Production is set to begin in March. Breslin stars in Universal's Definitely, Maybe and will next be seen in Nim's Island, which opens April 4. She also plays the title character in Kit Kittredge: An American Girl, which Picturehouse releases July 2. (Variety)
