Outside Providence (2008)

Yes, it's based on a novel by There's Something About Mary co-mastermind Peter Farrelly, but don't expect any gross-out shocks or deep belly laughs from this banal tale of a '70s stoner (Hatosy) who wises up at a New England boarding school. In a brief role as Hatosy's blue-collar dad, Baldwin is the rare bright spot in a movie that truly demonstrates why the term coming of age story is such a cliche. C-
