Flock (2008)

EW's GRADE
B+

Details Release Date: Feb 19, 2008; Lead Performance: Bell X1; Genre: Rock

They've been called Ireland's answer to Radiohead, but if Flock is this quartet's OK Computer, it should probably be retitled My Computer Is Actually Doing Pretty Well, Thanks! Singer Paul Noonan is Thom Yorke after an intensive Paxil regimen, his vocals poignant but still easeful, and his bandmates' musicality is gently adventurous, not boundary busting. That said, tracks like ''My First Born for a Song'' are excellent Radiohead-lite, and ''He Said, She Said'' works up enough atmospheric menace to almost make them sound fierce. B+
