The Golden Age (2008)

EW's GRADE
B+

Details Release Date: Feb 19, 2008; Lead Performance: American Music Club; Genre: Rock

If praise were transmutable into cash, these perennially acclaimed melancholic rockers could buy a gold-plated tour bus. Instead, guitarist Vudi has a day job driving a bus in L.A. It was there American Music Club recorded their ninth LP, The Golden Age, a lush collection that ranks among their best. Singer-songwriter Mark Eitzel reconfirms both his offbeat sense of humor, on the semi-spoken ''The Windows on the World'' (about partying it up at the World Trade Center bar), and his soulful vocals, on pretty much everything else.
