Next year's Russell Croweled movie remake of State of Play, the tense BBC miniseries, has loads to live up to: There's Paul Abbott's slick script, adroitly linking the mysterious, seemingly random murders of a purse snatcher and a political researcher. There's Bill Nighy's BAFTA-winning turn as the cranky newsman whose team (James McAvoy, John Simm, and Kelly Macdonald) cracks the case. And there's David Yates' adrenalized direction, which Abbott says in a commentary one of two composing the EXTRAS can ''make it look ordinary...then let the absolute panic surface.'' A
