When some cookie-cutter students at a Midwestern college enroll in a logic course, they get a semester-long mind game. Eschewing a regular syllabus, their enigmatic prof challenges them to solve the mystery of a (presumably fictional) young woman who's been targeted for (presumably hypothetical) murder. Yes, Obedience is one of those high-concept thrillers with a final twist that upends all expectations, filled with characters who are not what they seem. Partly, that's because Will Lavender's cast never behave consistently, or in any way that conforms with reality, but are instead forced to goose-step to Lavender's readable but overly determined plot.
