(FROM HOLLYWOOD REPORTER) – Jon Tenney (TNT's The Closer) and Amber Heard (The CW's Hidden Palms) have joined the cast of Maverick Films' remake of the 1987 horror movie The Stepfather. Tenney plays a father trying to reconnect and protect his teenage son (Gossip Girl's Penn Badgley). Heard plays the son's girlfriend. Friday Night Lights' Adrianne Palicki was in negotiations for Heard's part, but she could not make the scheduling work. Sela Ward has already been cast as the father's ex-wife, whose fiancee (Nip/Tuck's Dylan Walsh) may have murdered his last family. Nelson McCormick is directing. Tenney recently appeared on stage with Alicia Silverstone in the Los Angeles production of Speed the Plow. Heard will next appear in theaters for Never Back Down, which releases March 14, and the horror movie All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, which opens in April. She also has a role in the upcoming Judd Apatow/Seth Rogen comedy The Pineapple Express. (Hollywood Reporter)
