On the carpet: Proenza Schouler's emerald silk twill
On the stage: L'Wren Scott's black wool crepe to perform ''Happy Working Song''
Winner: When you're singing your heart out to invisible rats and cockroaches, there's a decent chance we won't be eyeballing your dress. That arrivals garb, on the other hand, got our attention. Green!
Penélope Cruz
On the carpet: Navy blue Chanel Haute Couture
For the parties: Black single-shouldered Versace
Winner: Jeez. Rock and a hard place, Penélope! While the Karl
Lagerfeld-designed organza number appears to be trying to escape from
itself (and the actress used up her feather credits last year), her Jane
of the Morbid Jungle look ain't much better. Draw!
Markéta Irglové
On the stage: J. Mendel's blue silk mousseline to perform ''Falling
Slowly''
For everything else: Also J. Mendel, also silk mousseline, this one in
black
Winner: There's nothing flattering about that first unsupported bodice,
so thank heavens for the black gown, an elegant, unpretentious choice.
You're a long way from the streets of Dublin, dear. Kudos!
Heidi Klum
On the carpet: Haute Couture by John Galliano
For the parties: Roberto Cavalli
Winner With its high collar and epic skirt, the Galliano ensured there
wasn't a soul who didn't see Klum make an entrance. But that mini is
fierce (to borrow a phrase). What makes us think this vote might split
down gender lines? Rawr!
