Judging from this low-scoring sports comedy about the mystique of men with balls, Will Ferrell needs to call a time-out from belly baring to refocus his fan-favorite game of playing clueless male doofuses. In Semi-Pro, as a faded one-hit pop star and the owner/promoter/coach of the Flint Tropics, a wishfully named struggling basketball team in the bad-plaid 1970s, the big goofball relies too much on the funny hair and swingin' postures of the era as punchlines in themselves. His teammates include Woody Harrelson and an always righteous André Benjamin, looking fly in a giant 'fro. C–
