At first glance, this complex inspirational documentary is about six teenage students from Tibet's only school for the blind who, guided by famous American blind mountaineer Erik Weihenmayer and his sighted Western team, set out to climb a 23,000-foot peak on Mt. Everest in '04. Look deeper, though, and Lucy Walker's observant film Blindsight is about profound East-West differences in the importance of journey versus destination and comradeship versus competition. A quibble, or at least a question: The dangerous hike was arranged for the film. Does that count as bravery or chutzpah? B+
