loud-guitar crowd when she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of
Fame on March 10 in New York City. (Among the other honorees: John
Mellencamp, Leonard Cohen, the Ventures, and the Dave Clark Five.) After
a smirky tribute from Justin Timberlake, Madonna recalled learning to
play drums along with Elvis Costello records. Then she turned the stage

Madge's ''Burning Up'' and ''Ray of Light'' in blistering arrangements that
rattled the black-tie audience and justified her love. Sean Howe
