The Cutting Edge films are nothing if not consistent, and the made-for-TV sequels (e.g., 2006's Going for the Gold?) are consistently mediocre. In The Cutting Edge 3: Chasing the Dream, wealthy figure skater Zack (Lanter) and working-class hockey player Alejandra (Raisa) pair up to win a skating championship. All the plot staples — the flirting, the fighting, the Pamchenko — are here, but the chemistry never materializes. More than the axels and lutzes, it's the dialogue (Alejandra to Zack: ''You don't look at me, you don't talk to me — I'm like a disease'') that feels routine. EXTRAS None. C+

No. 1 Still Has the 'Edge'
Okay, so the stars of 1992's original Cutting Edge, D.B. Sweeney and Moira Kelly, didn't go on to become the Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell of their generation. But this snappy romantic comedy — penned by a pre-Michael Clayton Tony Gilroy — about an injured hockey player (Sweeney) and a partnerless pairs skater (Kelly) is still as quotable ("Toe pick!") and as enjoyable as ever.
