It's a shame that post-'50s Tennessee Williams film adaptations depended so often on the kindness of strangers. The script for This Property Is Condemned was ''suggested'' by a Williams one-act and cowritten by Francis Coppola. Natalie Wood, achingly expressive as a rooming-house flirt pushed into virtual whoredom by her mother, makes a fine Blanche DuBois clone. But if you really want to see Williams articulate the link between spurned love and promiscuity, get A Streetcar Named Desire. C+
