Sex and the City: The Movie will take place a year (and who knows how many Manolos) after the finale, where Carrie and John (Mr. Big) are engaged and living in an Upper West Side brownstone. Back writing her column, Carrie must lean on her pals (especially her gay boyfriend Stanford) to help plan her impending nuptials. Miranda loses her job due to cutbacks at her firm, and struggles with Magda for control of her household. When Smith suggests Samantha as his next onscreen love interest after Sharon Stone drops out, Miss Jones is bitten by the acting bug and inadvertently ignites a feud with the Basic Instinct star. Charlotte becomes obsessed with philanthropy and adopting children, thus attempting to brand herself and Harry as the Brangelina of the Upper East Side.
