Now, with fitting modesty (hence Almost an Evening), he's brought three quick one-acts to the stage, and the first two in particular — the afterlife comedy Waiting and the spy tale Four Benches — are clever showcases for his droll minimalism. And just before each word starts to feel too precisely selected, F.
