As befits a group that art-film director Wim Wenders chose to feature in his acclaimed Wings of Desire, this transcontinental congress of Australians and Germans delivers dramatic songs in a moody, cinematic cloud. While arrangements that alternately favor violin, horns, guitar, and electronics vary Crime & the City Solution's sound, Simon Bonney's authoritative singing brings Paradise Discotheque (Crime's fourth album) into sharp focus.
