Stinky Grooves (1990)

EW's GRADE
B+

Details Lead Performance: Limbomaniacs; Genre: Rock

Like their fellow punk-funkers (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Faith No More), San Francisco's Limbomaniacs gleefully meld funk guitar, rubbery horn sections, white-boy raps, and electronically sampled voices — often within the same song. Their first album, Stinky Grooves is a noisy, in-your-face delight, from the James Brown salute ''Freestyle'' to ''The Toilet's Flooded,'' the most graphic song ever written about plumbing disasters. B+
