If this past week in entertainment is a sign of what kind of summer is ahead, prepare yourself for serious heat: Two chart-topping musicians kicked off Coachella in the SoCal desert, Jim Carrey traipsed around Florida with his chest-baring costar, a red-hot Tribeca Film Festival got under way, and McDreamy was, well...you know. Plus: Questionable Denim Alert!
MR. WASHINGTON GOES TO NEW YORK
Denzel Washington shoots a scene in NYC for the action thriller The
Taking of Pelham One Two Three, based on the 1974 film about a transit
worker who must stop a hijacked subway car.
MIAMI HEAT
Jim Carrey and Lost's Rodrigo Santoro are joined at the arm on the Miami
set of I Love You Phillip Morris, a black comedy in which a married dad
(Carrey) goes to jail and falls for a cellmate.
AUTO FOCUS
If you haven't been blinded by his denim-on-denim ensemble, you can see
Emile Hirsch Mach 5 in tow in his action flick, Speed Racer.
THE MARRYING KIND
Patrick Dempsey was spotted with costar Michelle Monaghan at the NYC premiere of
Made of Honor insisting his new romantic comedy isn't ''too shtick-y.'' ''I actually had a maid of honor who was a man, so when I first read the
script I identified with it and thought that was a lot of fun.''
said Monaghan on her initial reason for agreeing to star in the movie.
DESERT REIGN
Prince headlined day 2 of the ninth annual Coachella Valley Music & Arts
Festival in Indio, Calif., April 26, and sang some signature tunes,
including ''Little Red Corvette'' and ''1999.''
MOMMIE DEAREST
Julianne Moore arrives at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of Savage
Grace. In the dark drama, she plays a mother who has an affair with her
son.
JACK THE RIPPER
The day before Prince took the stage, Coachella's other headliner, Jack
Johnson, belted out acoustic jams like ''Hope'' and ''Bubble Toes.''
