Muhammad Ali: The Whole Story

EW's GRADE
B

Muhammad Ali found his match in When We Were Kings, the Oscar-winning documentary about his ''Rumble in the Jungle'' with George Foreman in 1974. The film floated like a butterfly, stung like a bee, and renewed our awe for the fighter and the man. Now comes this six-tape, six-hour-plus series that goes the distance with the Greatest, from his first fight in Louisville with Ronie O'Keefe to his battle with Parkinson's syndrome. Muhammad Ali: The Whole Story is what it says it is, a complete biography, that is occasionally plodding, rarely surprising, yet always relentless. In short, it's a Joe Frazier of a documentary. B
