Ellen Page will play the title heroine in a BBC Films adaptation of Charlotte Bronte's 19th-century novel Jane Eyre. No director is yet attached, but Moira Buffini has written the screenplay, and producers hope to begin filming this fall. Bronte's tale, about a governess who warms the heart of her employer but discovers his dark secret, is one of the most adapted works in the English language; a BBC miniseries won three Emmys just last year.
