Ignore the band's silly name. Loaded with bright splashes of guitar and vocal harmonies, the five-member Scottish group Trash Can Sinatras' debut album is breezy pop with a backbeat and mercifully little attitude. Intelligent lyrics, pristine production, and tunes that stick after one spin make Cake immediately likable; imaginative arrangements that run from spare to gushy give it variety. Unlike albums by pop bands content to whip up cotton candy, ''Cake'' is a satisfying and substantial confection. B+
