(FROM VARIETY) Two-time Academy Award winner Daniel Day-Lewis may soon settle on his next project. The always-in-demand actor, who is known to be very picky with the roles he chooses, is in negotiations to star in Nine for director Rob Marshall (Chicago). The musical is an adaptation of the hit Broadway show, which was inspired by Fellini's classic film 8 1/2. Day-Lewis, who won his second Best Actor prize in February, for There Will Be Blood, would be taking over the lead role of harried movie director Guido Contini from fellow 2007 Oscar honoree Javier Bardem (who dropped out of the production citing exhaustion). Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, Sophia Loren, Nicole Kidman, and Judi Dench are already on board the project, which has a fall production start date. (Variety)
