(FROM VARIETY) Sony Pictures has acquired the feature-film rights to Goosebumps, R.L. Stine's hugely popular series of young-adult novels. More than 300 million copies of the books have been sold since 1992 (second only to the Harry Potter tales among novels for youngsters), but a movie adaptation has never come to the big screen. The studio is fast-tracking the project, which it sees as a potential franchise. (Variety)
