(FROM VARIETY) – Because there still is no deal in place for key cast members of Fox's The Simpsons, production on the 20th season of the animated comedy has been delayed, and sources say that could mean a cutback in the planned 22-episode run. Dan Castellaneta (who voices Homer), Julie Kavner (Marge), Nancy Cartwright (Bart), Yeardley Smith (Lisa), Hank Azaria (Moe), and Harry Shearer (Mr. Burns) reportedly make around $360,000 an episode, but a new deal could increase their take to $500,000, including bonuses. That haul is comparable to many live-action sitcom stars, save for special cases like Two and a Half Men's Charlie Sheen. The cast held out for more money in 2004, when they were aiming for $125,000 per episode, and also in 1998, when they were making just $30,000 per episode. That year, Fox actually hired casting directors to search for replacements. Fox says the current talks are less hostile than in past hold-outs, and insiders say a deal could come as soon as this week. (Variety)
