Forging ''Dark Horizons''

EW speaks with Garth Franklin, the man behind the popular movie gossip website

You won't see him lunching at the Ivy, but Garth Franklin wields plenty of non-schmoozable power from a keyboard an ocean away from Tinseltown. In the two years since Franklin, 21, launched Dark Horizons (www.darkhorizons.com) from his Sydney pad, the Hollywood news and gossip website has become a must-read for industry execs, agents, and entertainment junkies alike. Thanks to a slew of tipsters who write in from around the world, Franklin reports on everything from the troubled set of Wild Wild West to early script reviews of such upcoming films as Deep Blue Sea. As for his future, Franklin just hopes to make a dime or two off his work. "I put a few thousand a year into it, and hopefully I'll be able to start earning a wage eventually," he says. "If not, I'm writing a screenplay." Maybe down under isn't so far from the Ivy after all.
